ISE II The World of Work Lesson
In this download, you can find a multi-text reading and reading into writing lesson about the topic of THE WORLD OF WORK to help your ISE II students prepare for the The World of Work subject area and the ISE II exam. The lesson involves reading, writing and speaking about work contracts, and in particular, zero-hour contracts.
How to use the ISE II The World of Work Lesson
The lesson starts with a brief discussion about different work contracts and the advantages and disadvantages of each. This discussion also introduces the concept of zero-hour contracts that the reading texts are based on.
The next part of the class is a multi-text reading activity about zero-hour contracts. The reading is an ISE II style reading activity – the students match sentences to the texts, they find true statements and they have to complete the summary notes with a few words from the text.
After completing the reading, the reading into writing question is introduced (a report) and then the students have to think about and do some activities about how reports are structured. This will help them with the writing task.
Finally, the students complete the reading into writing task which is a report about the suitability of zero-hour contracts for students.
